When Fresh KDS is set up as a printer in Clover, it uses the local network to receive orders from your POS.

Unable to connect Fresh KDS with Clover? Try this!


Before you begin, please confirm:

  • Clover is the POS.

    From the Fresh KDS app, navigate to Settings - General.

    • Point of Sale System: Clover.

  • Fresh KDS and Clover POS are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
    Fresh KDS will not work if you use your Clover device as a hotspot.

  • Fresh KDS App is up to date.
    Check the latest version (and release notes) here.

  • Clover POS is up to date.


Step 1: Restart your KDS tablet, Clover POS, and Router to refresh the connection.

Fresh KDS will only broadcast as a printer if the KDS App is open. Minimizing the app, powering the tablet off, or allowing it to go into sleep mode will temporarily break the connection with your POS.

Step 2: Confirm Fresh KDS is set up as an Order Printer in Clover.

  • From your Clover device, open the 'Printers' app.

  • Fresh KDS will be listed as a Star SP700 printer unless previously renamed.

See your KDS?

Tap 'Print Test Receipt' to verify the connection.
If a test ticket appears, you may need to enable Order Receipt Options or Order Types in Clover.

Don't see your KDS?

Allow the Fresh KDS app to access your Local Network.

  • iOS: Navigate to Settings - Privacy.

    • Select 'Local Network.'

    • Toggle on for the Fresh KDS app.

Turn off Private Address on your device's Wi-Fi settings.

  • iOS: Navigate to Settings - Wi-Fi.

    • Select the 'Information (I)' icon of your connected network.

    • Toggle off for Private Address.

  • Android: Navigate to Settings - Connections - Wi-Fi.

    • Select the 'Cogwheel' settings icon of your connected network.

    • Select 'Advanced' to open the dropdown menu.

    • Select the option for 'MAC Address Type' and set it to 'Tablet MAC.'

Next, add Fresh KDS as an Order Printer in Clover:

  1. From the ‘Printers’ app, tap the green ‘Plus’ (+) icon located at the bottom right of the screen.

  2. Select 'Add Order Printer.'

  3. Fresh KDS will be listed as a Star SP700 printer; Tap to select this printer.

  4. Enter a new Printer Name.

  5. Assign Labels to Auto-Print.

    • Only items assigned to the selected label groups will send to your KDS.

    • To manage or create new labels, navigate to Inventory - Labels from your Clover device.

  6. Tap 'Print Test Receipt' to verify the printer connection.

  7. Tap 'Save' to complete the printer setup.

*Note: Follow these configuration steps on each Clover device that sends orders to your kitchen.


Display Support For Clover Orders

Confirm Order Receipt Options in Clover:

  1. From your Clover device, open the ‘Setup’ app.

  2. Tap ‘Order Receipts’ on the left navigation bar.

  3. Set “How will order receipts be printed in the Register?” to 'Print all items when Pay or Save is tapped.'

Confirm Order Types in Clover:

To edit or create order types in Clover, you must log in to https://www.clover.com/

  1. From the Clover Web Browser, select 'Clover Orders' - 'Settings' - 'Order Types.'

  2. Edit or enter the information to Add a New Order Type.

    • Fresh KDS is configured to recognize the following Order Types:

      • For Here

      • Drive Thru

      • Curb Side

      • ToGo

      • Delivery

      • Pickup

Confirm Order Types are turned on for display in Fresh KDS:

  1. From your Fresh KDS App, Tap to click on Settings - Display Modes.

  2. Toggle On for all applicable Order Types.
