Before you begin, you'll need the following:

  • Fresh KDS Account.
    Don't have one yet? Get started with our Free Trial and follow the steps to complete the registration process.

  • Dedicated Tablet.
    Fresh KDS was built to run on iOS 13+ and Android Tablets.

  • Strong Wi-Fi Connection.

*Note: Fresh KDS will not work if you use your Union device as a hotspot.


Step 1: Download the Fresh KDS App.

  1. Download the Fresh KDS App onto your dedicated tablet.

  2. Open the Fresh KDS app, and log in using your account credentials.

  3. Follow the prompts and give your screen a descriptive name like "Espresso," "Bar," or "Kitchen."

  4. Select 'Union POS' as your POS system.


Step 2: Access your Device Identifier on your Fresh KDS tablet.

  1. On your Fresh KDS tablet, navigate to Settings - Screen Settings.

  2. Locate your Device Identifier.

The Device Identifier will be used as the Mac Address in the below steps for configuring Fresh KDS as a Printer Station in Union.


Step 3: Configure Fresh KDS as a Printer Station in Union.

Before you begin, ensure your Fresh KDS tablet and Union POS are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

  1. Launch the Union Manager Portal on your Union POS device.

  2. Navigate to Settings - Hardware Setup - Printers.

  3. Select ‘Add Printer.’

  4. Enter a new Printer Name.

  5. Select Printer Model Epson TM-U220B, and add your Device Identifier as the Mac Address. (Refer to Step 2 to locate your Device Identifier.)

  6. Tap ‘Save.’

  7. Once saved, select ‘Assign Devices’ to assign the Fresh KDS device to a register.

  8. Log out of the Union Manager Portal, and relaunch the Union POS App to confirm the printer setup.

*Note: Follow these configuration steps on each Union device that sends orders to your kitchen.


Step 4: Place your Fresh KDS tablet in the kitchen.

  1. Choose where to place your Fresh KDS screen.

    • Some place it right above a prep station.

    • Others find that mounting it on a nearby wall with a waterproof case is best.

  2. If using multiple screens, be sure the name matches the station placement.


Step 5: Train your staff & profit! 💸

  1. Show how to mark items as complete & how to clear tickets.

    • Tap to cross out items as complete.

    • Tap the customer name to clear and remove the ticket.

  2. Show how to recall orders.

    • Tap the recall button located on the left navigation bar.
