If Fresh KDS is set up as a printer (using Local Network / Printer Emulation), but you don't see orders - Try this!

Before you begin, please confirm:

  • Verify the POS system in Fresh KDS.

    • On the Fresh KDS app, navigate to Settings - General; Point of Sale System.

  • Fresh KDS and POS are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

    Fresh KDS will not work if you use your POS as a hotspot.

  • Fresh KDS App is up to date.

    Check the latest version (& release notes) here.

  • POS device is up to date.

  • Fresh KDS is a connected printer in your POS.


Step 1: Restart your KDS tablet, POS device, and Router to refresh the connection.

Fresh KDS will only broadcast as a printer if the KDS App is open. Minimizing the app, powering the tablet off, or allowing it to go into sleep mode will temporarily break the connection with your POS.

Step 2: Confirm the Printer Setup in your POS.

The steps to add Fresh KDS as a printer can differ based on the POS. For this reason, we recommend referring to our Quick Start Guides for exact instructions.

⚠️ Please note: Setting up Fresh KDS as a printer requires access to the Local Network and turning off Private Address.


Step 3: Verify Assigned Order Types in your POS.

Once the printer setup is confirmed, verify the Order Type assigned when entering a new sale on your POS. *This information is often found on the checkout page.

Fresh KDS is configured to recognize the following Order Types:

  • For Here

  • Drive Thru

  • Curb Side

  • ToGo

  • Delivery

  • Pickup

Order types can be set up to match Fresh KDS configurations in your POS Settings. Since every POS handles this differently, we recommend checking with your specific provider on how to set up order types.


Step 4: Confirm Order Types are turned on in Fresh KDS.

  1. From your Fresh KDS App, navigate to Settings - Display Modes.

  2. Toggle On for all applicable Order Types.
